Veritas Academy is a two form entry school for children aged 4 to 11 years old and from September 2015 there will be 210 places from Reception to Year 6. It will be a very friendly school where children are encouraged to become confident, caring and articulate and to use their abilities to the full. We aim to provide a calm and happy atmosphere and set high standards of respect, courtesy, hard work and achievement for all children and adults.
The school opens in September 2015 in a refurbished building of the highest standard. The school is well equipped with bright modern classrooms and an attractive learning environment which includes a central library area and not to mention state of the art ICT facilities including a 4D cinema designed to enhance children’s learning.
We are an extended school which means we offer provision from 8:00am to 5:45pm. This includes a Breakfast Club that begins at 8am and a range of after school activities in our After School Club which finishes at 5:45pm.
The normal school day will run from 8:55 (in class) to 3:30 with lunch from 12:10-1:10. Children will have specialist teachers for both music and P.E. weekly. Phonics is taught regularly throughout KS1 using Read Write Inc.
We enrich the curriculum as much as possible through educational and residential visits, visiting speakers and professionals, first hand experiences and by drawing upon the local and wider community. Parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their children’s learning.
Veritas Primary Academy will operate a morning and afternoon Nursery; from September 2015 there will be 26 places morning places 8.45 – 11.45 and from next year we will look to add afternoon nursery sessions from 12.30 – 3.30 We offer a tailored child-centred learning experience where your children work towards the early learning goals but learn through play. We offer a warm caring environment where your children feel safe and each child is given the opportunity to reach their full potential, enabling them to develop their own sense of self-worth. Staff plan activities to ensure each of the development areas are covered; thus helping each child move on to the next stage of development, whilst enhancing their natural desire to learn. We have created an environment where all our children can make their own discoveries, both indoors and outdoors, as well as exploring the cultures and festivals of others – both in this country and around the world.
Although acceptance into our Nursery does not guarantee a place in our Reception class, both Reception and Nursery work closely together to ensure a smooth transition into mainstream education. Our brand new EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) block is furnished and equipped to a very high standard
