11 Before 11
Life is an adventure- and school should be too!
Introducing 11 Before 11
11 Before 11 is our promise to all children across the REAch2 family: 11 exceptional experiences that will inspire and challenge our children. Everything we do is about helping children develop the character traits that will help them thrive as they graduate from Primary School and move on to the next phase of their education. We want every child to leave us with the ability to engage fully with the challenges of a secondary school life; both the curriculum but also the day-to-day reality of growing up and starting to discover who they are, what they are passionate about and what they are capable of.
The Rationale
It is essential that our children can read, write and add up to the level that you would expect for their age, but at Veritas Primary Academy, school always has been about so much more.
Think back – what do you remember about your primary school days? Was it phonics lessons or learning how to do long division? Or was it a brilliant school trip where you camped under the stars? Or built a raft and crossed a lake? Or built and launched rockets from the playground?
These types of great opportunity- the memorable experiences that cement themselves into your psyche- happen in every school. What's different for us is that we consciously codify it into a set of promises so that it becomes something that EVERY child is entitles to.
And “11 Before 11” is the way we do this; it’s a set of promises that help our children to be in the driving seat in their own lives. We are ambitious for our children to have broad horizons in life and high aspirations for themselves. We want our children to be inspired and challenges so that each one can develop their unique potential to the full.
11 Before 11 takes our children beyond the usual, to open opportunities in life and inspire them to move forward in their own life’s adventure. We are incredibly proud of “11 Before 11”. We know the impact that it has had so far, and strongly believe that it's importance has only grown because of COVID-19 and the impact that the pandemic has had on society, on our communities, and on our families. We will continue to invest in delivering it, so that every child's experience of school with us is exceptional and memorable for all the right reasons.
Each year group will achieve one or more promises each year.

Wildlife Warrior
Wildlife Warrior
This promise is about creating a clear message to look after our planet than there is now and this can start in our own playgrounds, field and gardens. Conservation for all living things is something that children should learn from a young age. Instilling a sense of responsibility for all the creatures that we share this planet with can start with the simplest of tasks locally but come with the huge rewards of encouraging a strong sense of self-awareness and reflection.

Create Something Amazing
Create Something Amazing
This promise gives our children the opportunity to design and create a large sculpture; something that will last a long time and possibly identify any budding sculptors among us. This creates an artistic legacy in the school for years to come.
-
Perfect A Pitch
Perfect A Pitch
This promise gives children the opportunity to build entrepreneurial skills from a young age and is of huge importance. Learning about what goes into creating a product from concept to costings to promotion and delivery are invaluable and give children a chance to develop life skills in preparation for adulthood. 'Perfect a Pitch' is a chance to make real life purposeful curriculum links with Maths, writing and design and technology and gives children a platform to learn about profit, loss, marketing, packaging and promotion.

10 Good Deeds
10 Good Deeds
This promise supports children in putting citizenship into practise, through engaging directly with their local community and beyond. They discover how they can make a positive impact through thoughtful planning, effective communication and action, they become agents of change through acts of giving and service. They dare to be different with a focus on responsibility and service.
-
Messing About On The Water
Messing About On The Water
This adventure is an introduction to the thrill and enjoyment of water sports, allowing children to test their courage on the water, and to work in teams. We hope it can be a gateway for a lifelong love of water sports, and help to identify talents to nurture.
-
Sleep Under The Stars
Sleep Under The Stars
Looking up at a starry night is sky is probably one of the most magical things that children can do. At some point, we have all wondered what it would be like to go into space and wonder what exists beyond our planet. We want all REAch2 children to unlock their adventurous spirit and to be curious about our amazing universe.
-
Culture Vulture
Culture Vulture
Within our communities, there is so much talent that we can go seek out and find. Every city, town and village will have unique, cultural experiences at their fingertips- if we only reach out and explore. This is precisely what the Culture Vulture promise is for.
-
Seeds To Supper
Seeds To Supper
This promise enables children to connect with the importance of food in their lives: they grow their own crops from seed, learning how to care for food, and the nutritional value of the food, then they harvest their crops and use the produce to cook meals for their family, so learning how meals can bring people together.
-
Cross A Border
Cross A Border
For many of our children, leaving home to visit a foreign country is only possible if our school arrange it. It is a completely memorable adventure, where children can explore different cultures, traditions, and languages, learning that there is a wide and rich world waiting to be explored, beyond their local community. Independently using different currencies to interact with others in a different language gives children a sense of adventure and of their growing independence
-
Hiking Hero
Hiking Hero
Through our Hiking Heroes promise, we want to show how exercise outdoors can be enjoyable and rewarding. We also want all our pupils to realise that this sort of activity might be difficult and challenging but can be well worth the effort.
This promise can also provide great educational benefits. It allows our children to plan a route, to map read, and to think about the provisions that they may need.
-
Caring Campaigner
Caring Campaigner
We want our children to have a built- in sense of curiosity, inquisitiveness and fairness. Recognising the smaller or larger injustices in the world plays an important part in the development of compassion, empathy and responsibility.
Caring campaigner hones into a child's natural awareness of what is and isn't fair; encouraging the passion to right a wrong, however challenging that might be. It is about recognising that every child has a voice that should be heard and that however young they are- we should listen.
